The Arri ALEXA PLUS 4:3 allows for full anamorphic compatibility for those shooting with anamorphic lenses for 2.39:1 widescreen distribution. Anamorphic lenses squeeze the image by a factor of two, thus projecting a 1.195:1 aspect ratio image onto the sensor. When using sensors that are natively 16:9 or even wider, it is necessary to crop the sides, resulting in a much smaller used sensor area and a different angle of view for the lens. With the ALEXA PLUS 4:3, the full area of the sensor is used and a much higher image quality is retained.

External (HD-SDI): ARRIRAW or 1080PsF 4:4:4 RGB/4:2:2 YCbCr HD video. Recording frame rates other than HD standard 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94,60 PsF requires a recorder with Variframe support. Recording ARRIRAW requires an ARRIRAW T-Link certifed recorder.
